CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard crews rescue an overdue boater 10 nautical miles offshore Matagorda, Texas. Monday, December 2, 2024, at morning.
Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi watchstanders received a call at 11:45 p.m. Sunday from the wife of a boater stating her husband had not arrived at a planned destination near Ingleside, and was unable to contact him.
Coast Guard watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast (UMIB) and launched a Coast Guard Station Port Aransas 45-foot Response Boat–Medium (RB-M) crew along with a MH-65E Dolphin Short-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew and a HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi to commence search efforts.
The HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew spotted the vessel near the Port O’Connor jetties and relayed its location to the helicopter and boatcrews. Due to the sea state, the MH-65E Dolphin SRR Helicopter aircrew was unable to perform a hoist for the stranded boater, and he was embarked onto the 45-foot Response Boat–Medium.
The boater was transported to Port Aransas with no reported injuries.
