Coast Guard rescues a man from forest east Aberdeen

SEATTLE — A Coast Guard aircrew hoisted an injured man Saturday morning from a forest several miles east of Aberdeen, Washington.

At 10 a.m., watchstanders at the Columbia River Command Center received a request for assistance from Grays Harbor dispatch reporting a man who had several injuries and was showing symptoms of hypothermia near Mox Chuck Slough.

Ground personnel had been unable to reach the man’s location by vehicle due to rough road conditions.

A Coast Guard aircrew aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk was already airborne for training and quickly diverted to the area.

With assistance from Grays County Fire Department, the man and an on-scene medic were safely hoisted into the helicopter.

At 11:45 a.m., the man was safely brought to Bowerman Airport in Hoquiam to awaiting emergency medical services. EMS brought the man to Grays Harbor Community Hospital.

His current condition is unknown.
