HOUSTON — Coast Guard Response Boat-Medium (RB-S) and MH-65E Dolphin crews rescue a surfer beset by weather off Freeport, Texas. On Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a a call from a friend of the surfer at 5:31 p.m. reporting a male surfer stranded offshore.
Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast (UMIB) and directed the launch of an MH-65E Dolphin Short-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Houston and a 29-foot Response Boat–Small crew from Coast Guard Station Freeport.
The RB–S boatcrew arrived on scene, embarked the surfer, and safely transferred him to Bridge Bait Marina with. There were no reported injuries to the surfer.
