Coast Guard rescue airplane crash survivors near Greenville, NC

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk aircrew rescue two adult survivors from a downed airplane near Greenville, North Carolina. Friday, May 5, 2023.

Watchstanders at U.S. Coast Guard Sector North Carolina command center received a call from Pitt County reporting a plane crash near the Tar River by the Pitt-Greenville Airport and requested Coast Guard assistance.

The Coast Guard Sector North Carolina watchstanders launched a Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew to conduct the rescue operation.

The MH-60 Jayhawk MRR helicopter crew arrived on scene, deployed the rescue swimmer, safely hoisted the survivors and took them to emergency medical services (EMS) personnel awaiting at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville.

The rescue helicopter aircrew arrived on scene, safely hoisted the survivors and took them to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville.
