NEW ORLEANS — A U.S. Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew rescue four stranded boaters Tuesday near Hopedale, Louisiana.
U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a call at 12:45 p.m. from a 21-foot recreational vessel that was beset by the weather stranding the four people aboard in Mosquito Point.
The U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders coordinated the launch of an Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin Short-Range Recovery Helicopter (SRR) aircrew to assist.
The MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew arrived on scene, deployed the rescue swimmer, hoisted the four boaters and headed to land to transfer three boaters to the Hopedale Marina, and the fourth to the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Belle Chasse.
The four boaters were stranded after their 21-foot recreational vessel was beset by the weather.
