SEATTLE – A Coast Guard Air Station North Bend MH-65E Dolphin SRR Helicopter aircrew medevac a mariner from a cruise ship approximately 15 nautical miles offshore of Coos Bay, Oregon. Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025.
Coast Guard Sector Columbia River watchstanders received a report from the M/V National Geographic Venture at 6:38 a.m., Apr. 20, that a 30-year-old male crewmember was suffering from excessive vomiting and shortness of breath.
Watchstanders consulted with the Coast Guard duty flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac (medical evacuation) via helicopter.
At 8 a.m. Sunday, a MH-65E Dolphin Short-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station North Bend rendezvoused with the National Geographic Venture west of Coos Bay, Oregon, successfully deployed the rescue swimmer and hoisted the patient to the rescue helicopter.
The cerwmember was hoisted and transferred to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay.

He was transported to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay in stable condition.
