SEATTLE — A Coast Guard Air Station North Bend MH-65E Dolphin helicopter aircrew and partners conducted the rescue of two boaters stranded on rocks at the Coquille River South Jetty in Bandon, Oregon. Monday, August 3, 2026.
At 10:59 a.m., Coast Guard watchstanders at the Sector Columbia River command center received a 911 relay from North Coos 911 Dispatch reporting a 14-foot pleasure craft taking on water with two people aboard near the South Jetty. USCG watchstanders redirected a Coast Guard Air Station North Bend MH-65E Dolphin Short-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew from a nearby training mission and launched a 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew from Station Coos Bay.
At 11:37 a.m., Bandon Fire Department arrived on scene, rescued both people from their vessel and helped stage them on the rocks for a rescue helicopter hoist.
The MH-65E Dolphin SRR Helicopter aircrew arrived on scene at 11:53 a.m., successfully hoisted both people using a rescue basket and transferred them to awaiting emergency medical services (EMS) in a nearby parking lot at 12:30 p.m.
The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two people stranded on the rocks at South Jetty after their boat began taking on water.
