NEW ORLEANS – A Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans (NOLA) MH-60T Jayhawk aircrew medevac a 66-year-old woman from the cruise ship Brilliance of the Seas approximately 92 nautical miles offshore from Southwest Pass, Louisiana. Sunday, November 3, 2024.
At approximately 5:35 a.m. Coast Guard 8th District (Heartland) watchstanders received a report from the cruise ship Brilliance of the Seas requesting a medevac for a 66-year-old woman reportedly experiencing a medical emergency.
U.S. Coast Guard Heartland watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew to conduct the medevac mission.
The MH-60 Jayhawk MRR Helicopter aircrew arrived on-scene, deployed the rescue swimmer, hoisted the woman aboard the aircraft and transported her to emergency medical services (EMS) personnel awaiting at University Medical Center in New Orleans in stable condition.
