NEW ORLEANS – A Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew medevac a 62-year-old man from the research vessel Rem Andes approximately 165 nautical miles south of Port Fourchon, Louisiana. Thursday, May 9, 2024.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a medevac request from the Rem Andes of a 62-year-old man experiencing potential neurological symptoms.

Coast Guard 8th District (Heartland) watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60T Jayhawk MRR Helicopter aircrew to conduct the medevac.

Once on the scene, the MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter aircrew deployed the rescue swimmer, hoisted the man aboard the aircraft and transported him to awaiting emergency medical services (EMS) personnel at University Medical Center in New Orleans.
