MIAMI — A Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65E Dolphin helicopter aircrew rescue a man stranded on a jetty in the vicinity of St Lucie Inlet. Sunday, December 15, 2024.

The MH-65 Dolphin Short-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew brought the man to Stuart Airport with no medical concerns.

At approximately 12:20 p.m., an Air Force Rescue Coordination Center watchstander notified Coast Guard Sector Miami watchstanders of a personal locator beacon (PLB) activation. Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast (UMIB) and launched an Air Station Miami MH-65E Dolphin SRR Helicopter aircrew.

“We are grateful this gentleman had a personal locator beacon to notify Coast Guard watchstanders that he was in distress,” said Lt. Cmdr. James Fennessey, an Air Station Miami MH-65E Dolphin helicopter pilot. “Today’s mission was truly a success to this mariner’s ability to use his safety equipment along with the high level of training and readiness our crews maintain in order to conduct rescues like this.”
