HOUSTON — A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65E Dolphin aircrew medevac a 20-year-old woman from a vessel 50 nautical miles off Galveston, Texas. Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a medevac request at approximately 5 p.m. from the master of the Maersk Ohio stating a 20-year-old woman, Merchant Marine cadet, reportedly sustained an injury to her arm.

Coast Guard watchstanders transferred the case to the Coast Guard 8th District command center watchstanders due to it being in the New Orleans area of responsibility. Coast Guard Heartland watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who inmediately recommended the medical evacuation.

An already-airborne Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65E Dolphin Short-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew was diverted to conduct the medevac.

The woman was transported to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in stable condition.

The Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin SRR helicopter aircrew arrived on scene, deployed the rescue swimmer, hoisted the woman using a rescue basket and transported her to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in stable condition.
