HOUSTON — A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65E Dolphin aircrew medevac a 52-year-old man from a cruise ship offshore Galveston, Texas. Thursday, September 5, 2024.
U.S. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a medevac request at 7:55 p.m. from a crew member aboard the Carnival cruise ship Breeze stating a 52-year-old male passenger reportedly presented symptoms of a stroke aboard the vessel.
Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who immediately recommended the medical evacuation.
Coast Guard watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65E Dolphin Short-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew to conduct the medevac mission.
The MH-65 Dolphin SRR rescue helicopter aircrew arrived on scene, deployed the rescue swimmer, safely hoisted the sick passenger and transported him to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in stable condition.
