HOUSTON — A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65E Dolphin aircrew medevac a 29-year-old man injured who fell walking on the North Jetty near Galveston, Texas. Friday, April 5, 2024.

Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston command center watchstanders received a phone call from Galveston County Sheriff’s Office personnel at 3:42 p.m. stating a 28-year-old man had fallen on the North Jetty and injured his leg and back. Galveston County emergency medical services (EMS) personnel were able to assess the man’s condition but could not safely transport him off the rocks.

Coast Guard Sector Houston-Gaoveston watchstanders directed the launch of a 29-foot Response Boat-Small (RB-S) crew from Coast Guard Station Galveston and an MH-65E Dolphin Short-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Houston.

The MH-65 Dolphin SRR Helicopter aircrew arrived on scene, deployed the rescue swimmer, hoisted the injured man and transported him to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in stable condition.
