HOUSTON — A U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65E Dolphin helicopter aircrew and a Coast Guard Station Freeport Response Boat-Small (RB-S) boat crew conducted the rescue of three boaters from a capsized vessel near Sargent, Texas, Saturday afternoon. September 13, 2025.
U.S. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston command center watchstanders received a report at 11:03 a.m. of a 17-foot pleasure craft that capsized with three boaters aboard. two adults and one teenager.
U.S. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast (UMIB), directed the launch of a U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65E Dolphin Short-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew, and a U.S. Coast Guard Station Freeport 29-foot Response Boat–Small boat crew.
Once on scene, the Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65E Dolphin SRR Helicopter aircrew and the Station Freeport Response Boat-Small boat crew located the people sitting on the capsized vessel. The MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter aircrew deployed the rescue swimmer, who then helped assist the boaters from the capsized vessel onto the Coast Guard Station Freeport RB-S.
The three rescued boaters were taken to Bridge Bait Marina in Freeport, Texas.
No injuries were reported.
