ASTORIA, Ore. — A Coast Guard Sector North Bend MH-65 Dolphin aircrew rescue (medevac) an injured woman Wednesday near Face Rock Scenic Viewpoint in Bandon, Oregon.

The U.S. Coast Guard watchstanders received an agency assist request from Coos County Fire Dispatch at 2:06 p.m. of an injured 62-year-old woman who had reportedly fallen off of a rock near Face Rock Scenic Viewpoint and sustained a leg injury reported back pain.

Coos County Fire Department, Bandon Police Department and emergency medical service (EMS) personnel were on scene administering medical care but were unable to safely evacuate the woman due to the challenging terrain.

U.S. Coast Guard watchstanders directed the launch of an MH-65 Dolphin Short-Range Recovery Helicopter (SRR) aircrew from Coast Guard Sector North Bend to assist.

The MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter aircrew landed the aircraft on a nearby beach and transported the woman to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay. She was in stable condition upon transfer to hospital personnel.

The Coast Guard rescue helicopter aircrew arrived in Bandon at 2:44 p.m., deployed the rescue swimmer and landed on the beach to board the patient on the aircraft. Once onboard, the MH-65 Dolphin aircrew transported the woman to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay and transferred him to emergency medical services personnel awaiting in the helideck in stable condition.
