SAN DIEGO — A Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk aircrew rescue (medevac) a 60-year-old fisherman approximately 34 nautical miles west of the Coronado Islands, San Diego. Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Diego Joint Harbor Operations Center received a distress call from the charter fishing vessel «San Diego» around 11 a.m., reporting a passenger was experiencing seizures.
Coast Guard 11th District took on the role of Search and Rescue Mission Coordinator and diverted an Air Station San Diego MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew.
The MH-60 Jayhawk MRR Helicopter crew arrived on scene, deployed the rescue swimmer and executed a successful hoist operation to retrieve the patient.
The fisherman was then transferred to emergency medical services (EMS) personnel awaiting at Air Station San Diego.
The U.S. Coast Guard remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals at sea.
