SAN DIEGO — A Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter aircrew rescue (medevac) a 50-year-old male fisherman from the fishing vessel Spirit of Adventure approximately 93 nautical miles west of Point Loma. Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
Crewmembers aboard the Spirit of Adventure contacted Coast Guard Sector San Diego Joint Harbor Operations Center watchstanders at approximately 1:40 p.m. requesting assistance for a passenger who was displaying symptoms of a heart attack.
Watchstanders launched a Coast Guard Sector San Diego MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew including a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Special Tactics and Rescue (STAR) Team paramedic to assist.
Once on the scene, the MH-60T Jayhawk MRR helicopter crew lowered the rescue swimmer, recovered the patient, and transported her to emergency medical services (EMS) personnel awaiting at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.
The patient was reported to be in stable condition.
