NEW ORLEANS — A Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter aircrew rescue a boater after their vessel began to take on water 70 nautical miles south of Mobile, Alabama, Friday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a call from an offshore oil rig early Friday morning of a 40-foot sailing vessel taking on water with one person aboard south of Mobile.
U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans notified to Coast Guard Sector Mobile, who coordinated the launch of Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter (MRR) aircrew to assist.
The MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter aircrew arrived on scene, deployed a rescue swimmer, hoisted the boater in distress and headed to land to transport and transfer him to awaiting emergency medical services (EMS) personnel at Lakefront Airport in New Orleans.
Watchstanders at U.S. Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report of a 40-foot sailing vessel taking on water with one person aboard.
