NEW ORLEANS – A Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk aircrew medevac a 61-year-old woman from the Carnival Valor cruise ship approximately 62 nautical miles south of Southwest Pass, Louisiana. Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a report from the cruise ship Carnival Valor of a 61-year-old woman with stroke-like symptoms.
Coast Guard watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew to conduct the medevac.
The MH-60 Jayhawk MRR Helicopter aircrew arrived on-scene, deployed the rescue swimmer, hoisted the woman aboard and transported her to the Air Station New Orleans and transferred her to awaiting emergency medical services (EMS) personnel.
The woman was last reported in stable condition.
