NEW ORLEANS. Tuesday, March 21, 2023 — A Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk aircrew medevac a vessel crewmember approximately 15 nautical miles offshore Port Fourchon, Louisiana.

U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a call at 7:54 p.m. from the motor vessel Solitaire stating a crewmember was experiencing seizure-like symptoms.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew to conduct the medevac (medical evacuation).

The MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter aircrew arrived on scene, deployed the rescue swimmer, hoisted the crewmember and headed to land to transport and transfer the crewmember to the emergency medical services personnel (EMS) awaiting at University Medical Center New Orleans

The crewmember was experiencing seizure-like symptoms but was transferred to University Medical Center New Orleans in stable condition.
The helicopter aircrew executed a litter-augmented double pick-up which minimizes the rescue swimmer’s time on scene and allows the rescue swimmer to treat and remain with the patient through the hoist.
