NEW ORLEANS — A Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk medevac a 50-year-old man from a 302-foot vessel approximately 80 nautical miles offshore Dauphin Island, Alabama. Monday, October 2, 2023.
Coast Guard Sector Mobile watchstanders received a call at approximately 2:17 p.m. from the captain of the vessel requesting assistance to medevac a crewmember experiencing heart-attack-like symptoms.
Watchstanders then coordinated the launches of a Coast Guard Aviation Training Center HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew and a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew to assist.
The MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew arrived on scene, landed on the vessel, brought the man aboard the aircraft and transferred him to awaiting emergency medical services (EMS) personnel at the University Medical Center in New Orleans.
The man was last reported to be in stable condition.
