SAN DIEGO — A Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter aircrew medevac (medical evacuation) a 74-year-old fisherman (male) from the fishing vessel Poseidon approximately 35 nautical miles west of San Diego. Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
U.S. Coast Guard Sector San Diego Joint Harbor Operations Center watchstanders received notification from the fishing vessel Poseidon, reporting that a 74-year-old male crewmember onboard was suffering from consistent chest pains and needed to be medically evacuated at approximately 6:10 a.m.
U.S. Coast Guard Sector San Diego watchstanders then coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station San Diego MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew to conduct the medevac around 8 a.m.
The U.S. Coast Guard Air Station San Diego MH-60T Jayhawk MRR Helicopter aircrew arrived on-scene, deployed the rescue swimmer, hoisted the passenger into the aircraft, and transferred him to waiting emergency medical services (EMS) personnel at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, around 10 a.m.
