BOSTON — A Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk rescue helicopter aircrew medevac an injured fisherman 132 nautical miles east of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Tuesday.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., Coast Guard District One watchstanders received a notification from the crew of the commercial fishing vessel Mary Anne,​ home-ported in New Bedford, Massachusetts, reporting a 56-year-old crewmember was experiencing severe abdominal pain.

A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod MH-60 Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery helicopter aircrew launched, and safely hoisted the fisherman at approximately 9:30 a.m.

Coast Guard rescue helicopter aircrew successfully conduct a medical evacuation (medevac) of a 56-year-old fisherman from the commercial fishing vessel, Mary Anne, approximately 132 miles east of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, April 20, 2021. A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod MH-60 Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery helicopter aircrew transported the man back Massachusetts General Hospital for further care.

The fisherman was transported by the helicopter aircrew to Massachusetts General Hospital where emergency medical personnel (EMS) were waiting to provide the man with health car.
