NEW ORLEANS – A Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60T Jayhawk aircrew medevac a 66-year-old man (Saturday) and a 30-year-old woman (Sunday) from the cruise ship Carnival Liberty. October 19 and 20, 2024.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a report Saturday from the cruise ship of a 66-year-old man with stroke-like symptoms while approximately 55 nautical miles southeast of Southwest Pass, Louisiana.
On Sunday, Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a report from the cruise ship of a 30-year-old woman with appendicitis-like symptoms while transiting near Port Sulphur, Louisiana.
Watchstanders coordinated the launches of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrews to conduct the medevac missions for both people.
The MH-60 Jayhawk MRR Helicopter aircrews arrived on-scene for each report respectively and transported them to University Medical Center to awaiting emergency medical services (EMS) personnel.
The man and woman were both last reported in stable condition.
