NEW ORLEANS — A Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter aircrew medevac a fisherman from commercial fishing vessel in West Bay near Venice, Louisiana. Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a call via VHF-FM channel 16 at 1:11 p.m. from the commercial fishing vessel Mary Judith stating a crewmember lost consciousness after being struck in the head by the vessel’s rigging equipment.  

U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders diverted a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew to assist. 

The MH-60 Jayhawk MRR helicopter aircrew arrived on scene, deployed the rescue swimmer, hoisted the crewmember and transferred him to emergency medical services (EMS) personnel awaiting at University Medical Center New Orleans

The commercial fishing vessel crewmember was last reported to be in stable condition.

Once on the scene the helicopter aircrew deploys a rescue swimmer and hoists a commercial fishing vessel crewmember.
The crew aboard the vessel hailed Coast Guard Sector New Orleans after one of its crewmember was struck in the head and lost consciousness.
The MH-60T Jayhawk aircrew transported the crewmember to University Medical Center New Orleans in stable condition.
