NEW ORLEANS — A Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk rescue helicopter aircrew medevac the captain of a motor vessel approximately 4 nautical miles offshore Southwest Pass, Louisiana, Monday.
U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a call at 12:23 p.m. on VHF-FM channel 16 from the crew of the motor vessel Peridot stating their captain was experiencing dizziness and chest pain.
Coast Guard watchstanders diverted a U.S. Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter rescue aircrew to assist.
The aircrew arrived on scene, deployed the rescue swimmer, hoisted the captain, and headed to land to transfer him to emergency medical services (EMS) personnel awaiting at University Medical Center in New Orleans.
The captain experienced dizziness and chest pain before the MH-60T Jayhawk rescue helicopter aircrew medically evacuated him to Universtiy Medical Center in New Orleans.
