ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 60-year-old man from a 52-foot fishing vessel two miles south of Knowles Head, Alaska, Thursday.

A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from Air Station Kodiak hoisted the injured man from the fishing vessel Lady Kay and transported him to awaiting emergency medical services in Cordova at 12:50 p.m. The man was reported in stable condition upon transfer.

Watchstanders at the Sector Anchorage command center received notification at 11:33 p.m. that the vessel’s master sustained injuries and required assistance. After consulting with a Coast Guard duty flight surgeon, a medevac was recommended and the Jayhawk crew diverted from a nearby training mission.

Weather on scene was 6 mph winds and seas of two feet.
