NEW ORLEANS – A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk aircrew medevac a 62-year-old man from the cruise ship Carnival Dream approximately 218 nautical miles south of Point Fourchon, Louisiana. Friday, October 6, 2023.
Coast Guard 8th District watchstanders received a report from the cruise ship Carnival Dream of a 62-year-old man reportedly diagnosed with a bowel obstruction by the cruise ship medical staff.
Coast Guard watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew to conduct the medevac and a Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry response airplane for cover flight.
The MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew arrived on the scene, deployed the rescue swimmer, hoisted the man and the ships nurse aboard the aircraft and transported him to University Medical Center in New Orleans and transferred him to emergency medical services (EMS) personnel.
The man was last reported in stable condition.
