Coast Guard MH-60 crew rescue woman 100 nm off Kodiak

KODIAK, Alaska – A U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk aircrew rescue (medevac) a woman from the container ship CMA CMG Georgia​ approximately 100 nautical miles south of Kodiak, Saturday.​

The U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew was launched to scene. Once over the container ship the rescue helicopter crew deployed the rescue swimmer, hoisted the woman and headed to land to transport and transfer him to Emergency Medical Services​ (EMS) personnel awaiting at the Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak, Alaska.

The watchstanders of U.S. Coast Guard 17th​ District command center​ received the initial request for the rescue (medical evacuation), on Friday at 11:41 am, from the container ship CMA CMG Georgia reporting that a 36-year-old woman​ crewmember was experiencing chest pain.

After the Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk MRR helicopter aircrew safely transported the patient to Kodiak, the emergency medical service personnel took her to Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center to recieve a higher level of medical care.​
