NEW ORLEANS — U.S. Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew performed medevac a 67-year-old woman, Saturday, from a cruise ship approximately 95 nautical miles south of Southwest Pass, Louisiana.
U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a call, Saturday, at approximately 1:30 p.m. from the ship’s doctor that a passenger aboard the cruise ship was experiencing unexplained seizures.
The Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60T Jayhawk rescue helicopter aircrew to perform the woman medevac (medical evacuation).
The Sikorsky MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew arrived on scene, deployed the rescue swimmer, hoisted the woman, portable manual ventilator and ship’s nurse. Once onboard the rescue aircrew headed to land to transport them to West Jefferson Medical Center in New Orleans.
The rescue helicopter aircrew transported them to West Jefferson Medical Center.
