NEW ORLEANS — A Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60T Jayhawk aircrew medevac a 62-year-old man Monday from the Carnival Glory cruise ship, approximately 86 nautical miles southeast of Southwest Pass, Louisiana.
The Watchstanders from U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a call stating a passenger aboard the Carnival Glory cruise ship was experiencing medical issues that needed higher medical care.
The Coast Guard watchstanders directed the launch of a U.S. Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew to perform the medical evacuation.
The MH-60T Jayhawk MRR helicopter aircrew arrived on scene, deployed the rescue swimmer, safely hoisted the patient, his wife and a shipboard nurse, and took them to University Medical Center New Orleans.
The cruise ship passenger was last reported in stable condition.
