Coast Guard, local agencies search for man missing off of Ocean View

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Coast Guard crews and other local first responders are searching for a man who was reported missing off of Ocean View in Norfolk, Sunday.​

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads received the initial report at approximately 6 p.m., from a pair of kayakers who had seen a man swim away from his disabled vessel but did not resurface.​

The Coast Guard launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina; an 45-foot Response Boat — Medium boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Little Creek and launched the Coast Guard Cutter Razorbill to search.

Also searching are crews from the Norfolk Fire Department, the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries and the Virginia Marine Police.​
