SAN FRANCISCO — A Coast Guard Air Station Humboldt Bay MH-65E Dolphin aircrew rescue three boaters after their 19-foot jetboat ran aground on the Klamath River, just north of Wautec on the Yurok Reservation. Saturday afternoon, November 9, 2024.

U.S. Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay watchstanders received the report and request for assistance from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 4:22 p.m. for the stranded boaters after the deputies’ boat was unable to reach them due to draft restrictions.

Sector Humboldt Bay watchstanders then directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Humboldt Bay MH-65E Dolphin Short-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew to assists.

The MH-65 Dolphin SRR Helicopter aircrew arrived on scene, deployed the rescue swimmer, hoisted the boaters from the boat to land to transferred them to the Sheriff’s deputies nearby.

The Coast Guard received the request for assistance after the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was unable to reach the boat due to water depth and draft limitations.

There were no injuries or medical concerns reported.

Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office will work with boaters later on to retrieve their jet boat.
