DETROIT — A Coast Guard Air Station Detroit MH-65E Dolphin aircrew rescue a missing boater in the water who was reported to be on an overturned vessel near Port Huron, Michigan. July 12, 2025.

Coast Guard Air Station Detroit and Sector Detroit received a call regarding an overturned vessel in Port Huron, Michigan. A survivor of the vessel reported that another person was aboard when it overturned. The MH-65E Dolphin Short-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew conducted a search and visually located the possible missing boater in the water waving their arms.

Inmediately, the MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew deployed the rescue swimmer and safely hoist the boater, confirming it was the additional survivor of the overturned vessel.

The MH-65E Dolphin SRR Helicopter aircrew brought the survivor to Saint Clair County International Airport and coordinated with Sector Detroit to pass their location to local Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The survivor is reported to be medically stable at this time.

“This was a team effort and I’d like to commend the coordination from Sector Detroit and our crews,” said Lt. Christian Toscano, aircraft commander, Coast Guard Air Station Detroit. “This is what we train for, and we are glad we got to bring the survivor home safely.”
