WILMINGTON, N.C. – A Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston MH-65E Dolphin aircrew medevac an 85-year-old woman passenger from the cruise ship Carnival Venezia approximately 98 nautical miles off Cape Lookout. Sunday, October 6, 2024.

Coast Guard Sector North Carolina Command Center watchstanders received a medevac request from the cruise ship Carnival Venezia after a woman aboard the ship began experiencing stroke-like symptoms.

A Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston, South Carolina, MH-65E Dolphin Short-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew was launched.

Once on the scene, the MH-65 Dolphin SRR Helicopter aircrew deployed the rescue swimmer, safely hoisted the woman and transported her to Wilmington Airport where local emergency medical services (EMS) personnel transported her to New Hanover Wilmington Regional Medical Center.
