MIAMI – A Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew conducted the rescue of three boaters after their 26-foot vessel lost propulsion and was drifting toward a reef in Gilligans Island, off Guánica, Puerto Rico. Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
Once on the scene, the Air Station Borinquen MH-60T Jayhawk MRR Helicopter aircrew deployed the rescue swimmer and hoisted the boaters using a rescue basket.
No injuries were reported.
The three boaters were transported to Ponce Mercedita Airport. The vessel was towed by a good Samaritan to a local marina and is not a hazard to navigation.
No injuries were reported and their vessel was transported back to shore.

The owner aboard the 26-foot boat radioed Coast Guard Sector San Juan watchstanders over VHF channel 16 at approximately 4:50 p.m., reporting the vessel was disabled and drifting toward a reef.
