HONOLULU – A Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point MH-65E Dolphin aircrew medevac an ailing fisherman from a commercial fishing vessel 78 nautical miles offshore Kahului, Maui. Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
Coast Guard Sector Honolulu command center watchstanders received a medevac request at 4:57 p.m. Monday from personnel aboard the 70-foot fishing vessel Pacific Dragon II, who stated a crewmember was experiencing abdominal pain.
Coast Guard watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who inmediately recommended the medical evacuation.
A Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point MH-65E Dolphin Short-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew was launched and rendezvoused with the Pacific Dragon II about 78 nautical miles northeast of Kahului.
The MH-65 Dolphin SRR Helicopter aircrew arrived on scene at 4:03 a.m., deployed the rescue swimmer, safely hoist the patient and transported him to Maui Memorial Medical Center in Wailuku, Hawaii.
He is reportedly in stable condition.
