HONOLULU – A Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point MH-65E Dolphin aircrew medevac a fisherman (captain) from a commercial fishing vessel 65 nautical miles offshore Honolulu. Monday, October 28, 2024.

Coast Guard Sector Honolulu command center watchstanders received a phone call at 4:17 p.m. from a crewmember aboard the 85-foot commercial fishing vessel Triple Andy who reported the 69-year-old captain was experiencing shortness of breath and chest pain.

Sector Honolulu watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who inmediately recommended a medevac.

A Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point MH-65E Dolphin Short-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew and an HC-130 Hercules airplane crew was launched.

Personnel from Triple Andy stated that the captain was experiencing chest pains and shortness of breath.

Once on the scene, at 8:00 p.m., the MH-65 Dolphin SRR Helicopter aircrew deployed the rescue swimmer, safely hoisted the patient and transported him to The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu.

The captain is reportedly in stable condition.
