HONOLULU – A Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point MH-65E Dolphin aircrew medevac an ailing fisherman from a fishing vessel 40 nautical miles off Oahu. Monday, January 20, 2025.

Joint Rescue Coordination Center Honolulu (JRCC) watchstanders received notification at 4:30 p.m. Saturday from crew members aboard the fishing vessel Capt Davis that a 34-year-old crewman had suffered an eye injury approximately 350 nautical miles southwest of Oahu.

Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac (medical evacuation).

At 6 a.m. Monday, an HC-130 Hercules airplane crew and an MH-65E Dolphin Short-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point rendezvoused with the crew of the Capt Davis about 40 nautical miles southwest of Kapolei, Hawaii.

The MH-65 Dolphin SRR Helicopter aircrew deployed the rescue swimmer, hoisted the ailing man from the Capt Davis and transported the patient to Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu.

The fisherman is reportedly in stable condition.
