Coast Guard 11th National Security Cutter (NSC) named for Elizebeth Smith Friedman

WASHINGTON —​ The U.S. Coast Guard is naming the 11th Legend-Class National Security Cutter (NSC) in honor of the cryptanalyst Elizebeth Smith Friedman. Friedman was a pioneering code-breaker for the Coast Guard during the Prohibition Era and World War II, serving within the Coast Guard Cryptanalytic Unit-387.
