SAN DIEGO — A Coast Guard Air Station San Diego MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter aircrew conducts the medevac of a 56-year-old male passenger and a 77-year-old male passenger from a cruise ship approximately 13 nautical miles off the coast of San Diego Tuesday morning, January 30, 2024.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Diego Joint Harbor Operations Center received a distress call from the cruise ship, Navigator of the Seas, at approximately 7:50 a.m., reporting two passengers aboard needed medical assistance.

Coast Guard Sector San Diego watchstanders inmediately launched an Air Station San Diego MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew with an embarked Specialized Trauma Assistance Team (STAR) medic to rendezvous with the vessel and retrieve the two passengers.

Once on scene, the MH-60T Jayhawk MRR helicopter aircrew deployed the rescue swimmer, successfully hoisted the two passengers and transferred they to UCSD Hillcrest in stable condition.
