Coast Guard MH-65E Dolphin and MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter aircrews routinely conduct training with Response Boat-Small (RB-S) and Response Boat-Medium (RB-M) crews to maintain their qualifications and so that in the event of a medevac (medical evacuation) request from a boat or ship, the crews are proficient in their lifesaving techniques.

SAN FRANCISCO – A Coast Guard Air Station Humboldt Bay MH-65E Dolphin aircrew conducted the rescue (medevac) of an ailing woman (passenger) from cruise ship 45 nautical miles offshore Humboldt Bay. Thursday, July 16, 2026.
Once on the scene, the Coast Guard Air Station Humboldt Bay MH-65E Dolphin Short-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew deployed the rescue swimmer, safely hoisted the passenger, a 51-year-old woman, and transported her safely to Mendocino Coast Hospital in Fort Bragg, California.
The woman was reportedly in stable condition.
Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay watchstanders received a notification at 5:10 p.m. Thursday from a crew member of the Carnival Luminosa, a Bahamian-flagged cruise ship, requesting a medevac (medical evacuation) for a passenger experiencing symptoms of a stroke. The watchstanders inmediately launched the Coast Guard MH-65E Dolphin SRR Helicopter aircrew to conduct the rescue mission.
