SAN DIEGO — A Coast Guard Sector San Diego MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter aircrew rescue a 64-year-old fisherman from a fishing vessel approximately 40 nautical miles off the coast of San Diego. Thursday, November 9, 2023.
Coast Guard Sector San Diego Joint Harbor Operations Center watchstanders received a distress call from the fishing vessel Pride, requesting a medical evacuation (medevac) for a crewmember at approximately 9 a.m.
The injured male was experiencing multiple onset abnormalities.
Based on the reported condition of the individual by the fishing vessel crew, it was determined that a medevac, with a Special Tactics and Rescue (STAR) medic aboard the MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter, was necessary to provide a higher level of care within four hours.

The man was then transported to a local hospital via awaiting EMS.

The MH-60T Jayhawk MRR helicopter crew arrived on-scene and deployed the rescue swimmer, the aircrew successfully hoisted the patient, and transported him to Coast Guard Sector San Diego, where the awaiting Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel transferred him to Scripps Mercy Hospital in stable condition.
