A few Airmen from the Mississippi Air National Guard’s 183rd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron were hoisted from the water to a Jayhawk helicopter and back down.

NEW ORLEANS – A Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter aircrew medevac a 30-year-old man from the vessel Astraea SB approximately 9 nautical miles south of Dauphin Island, Alabama. Thursday, November 9, 2023.
Coast Guard Sector Mobile watchstanders received a report from the vessel Astraea SB of a man experiencing symptoms of labored breathing and high blood pressure.
Coast Guard Sector Mobile watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boatcrew.
The RB-M boatcrew arrived on scene but due to safety concerns, was unable to conduct the transfer and the Coast Guard watchstanders then launched a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew to conduct the medevac.
The MH-60 Jayhawk MRR Helicopter aircrew arrived on scene, deployed the rescue swimmer, hoisted the man aboard the helicopter and transported him to Mobile International Airport and transferred him to emergency medical services (EMS) personnel.
