SAN DIEGO – A Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk aircrew medevac a 26-year-old woman from the cruise ship Navigator of the Seas approximately 30 nautical miles west of San Diego. Thursday, August 29, 2024.
Coast Guard Sector San Diego watchstanders received a report from the cruise ship at 12:10 a.m. of a 26-year-old woman with lower abdominal pain.
Coast Guard watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon who recommended a medevac. The watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station San Diego MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew to conduct the medical evacuation.
The MH-60 Jayhawk MRR Helicopter aircrew arrived on-scene, deployed the rescue swimmer and a rescue basket, hoisted the woman aboard the helicopter, and transported her to awaiting emergency medical services (EMS) personnel at Coast Guard Air Station San Diego.
The woman was taken to Hillcrest Medical Center at the University of California, San Diego, where she was last reported to be in stable condition.
