NEW ORLEANS — A Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk aircrew rescue two overdue boaters after they became stranded near Hopedale, Louisiana. Saturday, April 20, 2024.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received notification from St. Bernard dispatch Friday at approximately 10:30 p.m. of two overdue boaters last reported aboard a 23-foot white center console recreational vessel in the Hopedale area. 

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew and the launch of a Coast Guard Station New Orleans 29-foot Response Boat-small (RB-S) crew to assist in the search and rescue mission. 

The MH-60 Jayhawk MRR Helicopter aircrew located the two distressed boaters and their disabled vessel early Saturday morning.

Once on the scene the Coast Guard rescue helicopter aircrew deployed the rescue swimmer, hoisted the two persons aboard the aircraft and transported them to Hopedale Marina in St Bernard, Louisiana.

The boaters were last reported to be in stable condition.
