CHARLESTON, S.C. — A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter aircrew conducted the rescue (medevac) of a fisherman 92 nautical miles offshore Brunswick, Georgia. Friday, June12, 2026.
Coast Guard Sector Charleston command center watchstanders received a notification from the operator of the 44-foot fishing vessel Still Fishing, stating a 56-year-old male was experiencing symptoms related to a gastrointestinal ailment. Coast Guard watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who recommended the medevac.
Due to the distance offshore, Sector Charleston watchstanders directed the launch of an Air Station Clearwater MH-60T Jayhawk Medium-Range Recovery Helicopter aircrew to conduct the medevac (medical evacuation).
The MH-60T Jayhawk MRR Helicopter aircrew arrived on scene, deployed the rescue swimmer, hoisted the man and transported him to St. Simons Island Airport in Georgia, where he was transferred to emergency medical services (EMS) personnel for further care.
